What riders say
The general consensus is that the Journal Square Transportation Center is an essential, highly convenient hub for traveling between New Jersey and New York, though it is currently hindered by ongoing construction and operational inconsistencies. On the positive side, many reviewers appreciate the wide variety of bus connections, the 24/7 PATH train access, clear signage directing foot traffic, generally punctual services on certain lines, and the promise of needed ongoing renovations. Conversely, the main negative viewpoints highlight prolonged construction, dirty facilities with foul odors and unkempt bathrooms, a lack of trash cans and seating, inaccurate schedule updates and tracking apps, parking restricted to monthly permits, and frequent delays, particularly on the 88 bus line and during adverse weather.

Will be amazing Journal Square bus station will be done...
Repairs going on for too long π
Travelers take note: construction work in/around Journal Square Plaza requires busy pedestrians to remain aware of ever changing traffic flow directives. When crossing JFK, Bergen, Sip, or Magnolia donβt assume drivers see you whether you have the light or not. Itβs an inconvenient, often aggravating essential transportation hub (PATH trains to WTC & up to 33rd St Manhattan are frequently behind schedule) and adaptability and keeping up with NJ Transit rider updates, travel alerts, modified schedules, etc is the difference between an annoying commute (reaching destination at acceptable time) versus confused, wild sprinting through train/bus platforms, missed connections, and slipping on stairs freshly βwateredβ by transitsβ urinating in semiprivate spots around the plaza. Said a lot here and Iβm still not covering late night /weekend platform changes and what time does late night beginβ¦bus platform worries for the waiting continue.
I think that the 80S bus should come almost every time if it can, because my bus stop is Grove St and almost some of my friends live near Sip Ave. It would be better to just take the bus down Sip Avenue than just walking from Journal Square to the block itself. It will take a little bit longer. But otherwise, the commute is very good. This is just a suggestion.
They need to do a better job on keeping this place clean. I've noticed that there's barely garbage cans for people to use, that can help with the littering issues. Bathrooms are never clean, people loiter too much.
Some areas are under construction well signal and have ppl directly to destination
Very clean and tidy place. Its a 24x7 train service to NYC. Usually the trains are on time except when it snows or rains (the ancient machinery don't seem to like these weather conditions).
Here you can find a number of buses departing to Hackensack, Secaucus, and North Bergen to name a few. The terminal is OK but could definitely improve (better bathroom, bus arrival time screen, etc.). This terminal is also connected to the PATH Journal Square station.
With the long wait, for certain bus lines, there should be seating available. There should also be more accurate and frequent updates of schedules.
Lot was closed off and the sign says only for monthly permits
Easy to navigate and it's getting some needed renovations.
While it's under construction it still needs some improvement.
Bc the buses are on time and the wait is as expected without transit app
Kind of crowded but clean and pretty much everything on schedule exept 88 line bus, that is the worst of the worst!!!! Ever bus in the world!!!!
Ugly. Dirty. Nothing ever runs on time. Convenient transportation to many destinations- when they are actually running, that is.
Horrible the mybus app is a joke I try to use it and it's wrong 90% OF THE TIME then they have the audacity to cop an attitude when you call!!!!!
Very helpful don't even have it request it , it pops up on the phone automatically!!! Love it
Buses don't run on schedule. Immigrants who cut lines pretend not to speak English.
88 buses are Never ever on time. Doesn't matter weekday or weekend.
Great place to go between jersey and new york
