What riders say
Reviews for the Hamilton Rail Station are generally positive, with travelers appreciating it as a convenient, safe, and modern facility for commuting into New York City. Positive feedback frequently highlights the abundance of parking between the garage and surface lots, the clean and climate-controlled waiting areas, on-site food and sculpture amenities, and smooth elevator access. However, multiple reviewers express significant frustration with long-broken escalators that lead to congested stairs, issues with parking garage payment machines and long lines, an rude ticket counter employee, occasional train service reliability problems, and isolated complaints regarding outdoor portable restrooms and station cleanliness.

It's a nice, relatively new station. Lots of parking (garage and surface lots). If it weren't for the forever broken escalators (I hope who ever approved that purchase lost their job) I'd give it 5 stars. There's a small Dunkin Donuts type convenience store in the Station and Quick Check built a big store and gas station adjacent to the station.
Escalators have been out for over a year with no signs of progress towards having them function again. Be prepared for long lines for stairs and elevator.
Much safer train station, as compared to Trenton. All southbound Nj Transit trains stop at Hamilton. Plenty of parking...parking garage for day/weekend travelers.
This train station it’s always clean , have air conditioning and in winter has heater, the trains are always on time.
I really feel safe parking my car here
Convenient and the parking structure is good. Station itself is kind of gross
Its a well maintained train station. The exception is the over 2 year wait on fixing the broken escelators.
Good parking garage adjacent to the NY bound platform. Very convenient. (This is not a review for NJT train service.)
Who is this wonderful lady at the ticket counter at 6am? (Obviously I’m joking). Can we please replace her with anyone else who actually likes their job?? What is her job other than ticketing anyway ?!! Her attitude, her tone of voice, her customer support is horrible. Or maybe give her one week off and tell her to take a chill pill and come back with a better attitude towards customer service. Dealing with her at 6am, is NOT how I would like to start my work day, going to a place of work I LOVE to work at! To Boss to that lady- it’s time to reevaluate your staffing!! (Anyone who has dealt with her will know what I’m talking about). Happy Tuesday all!
Great place when the Dunkin Donuts and the bathrooms are open. Large sculptures in the front are from Grounds for Sculpture nearby.
Ample parking, indoor waiting area, but outdoor johnny on the spot restrooms.
Indoor parking option is easy in/out, reasonable overnight parking. Clean and well organized. Makes going into NYC so much easier than driving or taking a bus.
This is a highly contemporary automated train station. It was my first time here and my experience was super cool. The compact size elevator here works so smoothly. Having somewhere to park within the designated area is probably never going to be an issue because it's roomy enough to accommodate several vehicles. The waiting area is so comfortable.
Alot of work going on at this station. Still better the trenton station.
Nice parking garage. Easy pickup and dropff.
Most trains out of service. Customers made to wait twenty minutes in overheated continually stalled and. On functioning trains. How hard is it offer a reliable service now that rates have increased to $19 a day Hamilton to Penn Station even so I’d gladly willingly pay it to have a functioning and reliable train service to and from my office like the rest of the world
Went to graduation in NYC. Called garage first to get availability for the date. Informed that Weds is the busiest day because it’s the matinee day in NYC. After rush hour there will be no outdoor parking so go straight to the garage. Take ticket with you because you need to pay in the machine before you get your car. You get a ticket to insert to lift the gate to get out. No attendant. Hourly parking. 11AM-9:30PM was $8. NOTE: If you park outside, your car must be moved by midnight or it will be booted. Clean, safe & well lite parking. Only improvement needed is better directional signs for going up & exiting out on the upper levels.
Parking is terrible. Parking ticket machines often broken or closed. Sat for 25 minutes in backed up line just to get into garage. No urgency by staff to fix anything. Meanwhile there’s outside parking lots as far as you see can that are roped off. Also had an issue where I paid for the ticket at a kiosk inside, go to leave and the gate doesn’t open. Luckily had my receipt to prove it, but people in their cars had to back up so I could drive to help desk…again no urgency by staff to do anything. These two issues happened over the span of four commutes. Never thought I’d say NJ transit is more reliable than this train station/parking garage. 10/20/22 update - 1 to 3 stars Since original review, parking ticket machines have been less problematic. Also noticed workers are more frequently at the machines to help. When exiting, they did recently change the monthly lane (second from left) so that it no longer accepts the daily tickets. That means one less lane to exit for those without monthly pass. I’m commuting a lot less now so original issues could still persist but I haven’t had any issues recently.
First, the parking garage experience was awful. They recommend using your credit card at entry for fastest exit. The machine kept saying error,so I got a ticket. Upon returning, the pay machine again said error every time I tried to check out, so I went to the manned booth. He swiped my card and got error as well and had to manually input the card information. The person in front of me apparently was having the same problem. I used that card all day long, at an ATM, ,to buy train tickets, subway tickets, and meals with no problem. Second, since there was no manned booth to purchase tickets I used the automated kiosk. I paid for a round trip ticket, after a processing messag, 1 ticket was produced by the machine, i assumed it was for the round trip and I boarded the train After I got on the train, I noticed it said one way. When I asked the conductor why it was one way, (and showed him the purchase on my bank's online statement for the amount of a round trip )he said there should have been a second ticket. When I said only 1 ticket was produced, he said "Oh yeah, sometimes those machines are very slow printing the second ticket " So I was stuck paying 3 fares for a round trip.
Bizarre, innefeciant parking garage where you get a ticket for your car as your normally would for a parking garage but as you exit you cannot pay at the exit terminal but have to get back out of your car and walk to a machine, pay, get back in your car and then exit. There is a massive outdoor lot that is apparently off limits. The outdoor lot with a phone app to pay like Princeton Junction would be much easier. But easy and efficient is not a thing here.
