It's only been several days since my mom was admitted to the rehab side of the healthcare center. It's bright, beautiful & very clean. The majority of the staff we've come in contact with has been VERY pleasant and easy to deal with. Unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be adequate staffing, especially on the weekend. My mom was still in the same exact clothes on Saturday that she was wearing the day she was admitted into Elmwood on Wednesday. And she would probably still be wearing them if I hadn't said anything! Mom pressed the buzzer for help to the bathroom; 20 minutes later someone finally answered the buzzer. I went to the nurses desk to ask a question and 4 different people walked around me without asking if they could help. And there's that handful of people that seem just absolutely miserable. I'd like to think it's because of the holidays that they're short staffed and that some of the staff just has Christmas things on their minds. Time will tell.
I reside at Elmwood Hills Nursing Home in Blackwood, NJ. Elmwood Hills gets all of my income which is SS, RR retirement, Conrail and the Archdiocese of Philadelphia pensions. I am only allowed $50.00 a month. Today is August 16th and I was refused my $50.00. Every month it’s the same thing. $50.00 a month is not enough and shameful. They have received the checks, they are not going to bounced. I am very irritated by this situation!
