What riders say
Reviews for the Atlantic City Rail Terminal are mixed, with passengers regarding it as an easy, functional transit hub to Philadelphia but noting issues with basic station amenities. On the positive side, multiple travelers describe the terminal as clean, easy to navigate, and one of the nicer NJ Transit hubs, offering straightforward boarding, available cabs outside, and a stress-free travel alternative to driving. On the negative side, reviewers complain about poorly maintained and dirty restrooms that lack toilet paper, limited direct destinations beyond Philadelphia, locked doors and rebooting ticket machines close to departure times, unhelpful staff, a lack of phone charging stations, and a noticeable presence of homeless individuals.

This one was a little different for us. We had a super‑early ride — pretty sure it was the first departure of the day — and the terminal felt like it had only just opened. The indoor waiting area was quiet and a bit flat in terms of atmosphere, but being my first time here, maybe that’s just the normal early‑morning vibe. Once the train arrived, everything was straightforward. We boarded the NJ Transit line, which we were told is the only rail service running from Atlantic City to Philadelphia. Important note for travellers: this is NOT an Amtrak line. It’s a completely separate service, though you can coordinate your trip with Amtrak schedules if you’re connecting further. No issues with the ride at all — smooth, simple, and exactly what we needed to get into Philly without the stress of driving. Travelling from Australia means there are a lot of new experiences this east side of town.
Of the NJT Hubs, AC terminal is by far one of the nicest and - believe it or not - cleanliest. An excellent way to transit to/from Philly. I wish there were an offering up to NYC....and perhaps even down to DC....
nothing special about this place, just a waiting room to get back to philly. all the trains only go to philly! i was exhausted and ended up sleeping on the bench for 15 minutes while waiting to board the train. they didn't maintain the bathrooms though, no toilet paper and needed to be cleaned. i will be coming back to simply go to the beach.
Homeless people everywhere, train leaves at 4:11 and the doors are locked until 4??? Then the ticket machines say 're-booting' until 4:05. NOBODY WORKING THE TICKET WINDOW!!?!??? REALLY??!!!??!!!!
disgusting and dingy bathrooms are not maintained no where to charge your phone and the ticket sales lady had a major attitude problem it’s like yall don’t want tourists or anything
Easy to navigate, clean, plenty of cabs waiting to take you to your destination 👍
